Fahadh Faasil plays the protagonist of the film who is a drug dealer in Malabar region of Kerala. He was on his last semester but he decided to quit college because of his sister’s sudden death. When Daud becomes an orphan, he faces some problems with his father’s family members due to some political reasons. To solve the problem, he becomes a drug dealer and starts earning money by selling drugs on Malabar region. His life changes when he meets Meera Jasmine played by Meera Jasmine in the film. She is a girl from a rich family who debuts as a De De teacher at a school. Meera Jasmine teaches Daud about the love and affection with her care and affection. Daud also starts to fall in love with her. This is where the story takes an interesting turn, as she gets kidnapped by some dangerous people from Dubai. The film continues till the end to tell how Daud is going to save his love from those dangerous kidnappers from Dubai. In this movie, Fahadh Faasil played two different roles as a younger brother who studies in college and as a drug dealer called Daud. The movie won him a lot of awards and his acting was praised by the audience. The film also featured Meera Jasmine and Nassar who played the role of Dubai-based kidnappers. Nassar was awarded with the best actor of the year award due to his superb performance in this film. The cinematography and production of this movie is pretty impressive as well as Siddique lal had made an attempt to make it more like a Hollywood superhero type genre. The script and dialogues are also very impressive like any other Malayalam movie, but due to some hard hitting situations, people might feel it slightly different from normal Malayalam movies. The movie was released on 18 January 2018. It started with a lot of controversies as the movie was titled as ‘Daud’, which is a made up word. The cast and crew had to put a disclaimer stating that the title was not made up by them. But somehow, the controversy subsided after a few days and no other controversies came up about it. There were some complaints from some quarters regarding the poor quality of audio but nothing major came up for this film.
